Building Futures: A Summer at Davie Construction Co. | Behind the Scenes

Behind the Scenes

This summer, Davie Construction Co. had the pleasure of welcoming Cassidy Nichols as a marketing intern. From day one, she’s brought creativity, curiosity, and a willingness to jump into every opportunity that has come her way. Throughout her time with us, Cassidy has worked on a wide range of projects that have supported the company’s brand, internal culture, and outreach efforts.

Her responsibilities include creating social media posts and email campaigns and designing brochure cards and swag items for upcoming trade shows. She has also contributed to larger initiatives like the early stages of our new website development and has played a key role in organizing internal events and volunteer days. Cassidy’s favorite type of content to create has been project updates—whether highlighting a newly completed build or capturing progress in the field—because, as she puts it, “I like to showcase the work the company is putting in.”

What makes Cassidy’s role especially impactful is how closely marketing ties into what is happening on the ground. She’s spent time coordinating with project managers and superintendents to gather updates, photos, and insights directly from job sites. This firsthand information allows her to craft accurate, meaningful content that reflects the brand promises Davie makes to its clients: quality, integrity, and a commitment to building strong relationships. Through this, she’s come to see that construction isn’t just about creating structures, but it’s about building trust, solving problems, and maintaining a safe, collaborative environment every step of the way.

One of Cassidy’s most significant takeaways from the internship is how many departments marketing touches. She’s seen how marketing supports business development by creating brochures, presentations, and proposal materials, how it helps HR with job posting visuals and recruitment campaigns, and how it plays a key role in managing internal and external communication. She’s also experienced how even the smallest piece of content, like a social media post, often requires research, planning, coordination, and multiple approvals to ensure consistency across platforms.

Cassidy has picked up many valuable skills, including writing content for a specific audience, aligning messaging with brand values, communicating across departments, and even learning the phases of construction and the language used in the field. She has become more confident managing deadlines, using tools like Canva, Mailchimp, and Adobe, and working on real-time projects that directly impact the company’s visibility and reputation.

As the summer continues, Cassidy remains a driving force behind the intern blog series and continues to support new marketing efforts. Her growth, contributions, and experience are great examples of how investing in young professionals can bring fresh energy and value to every part of the business.

We’re proud to have Cassidy on our team this summer and are excited to see where her path leads next. Stay tuned for more stories from our Building Futures series, where we spotlight the experiences shaping the next generation of construction professionals.
